Subaru announced substantial price reductions for its 2025 Solterra electric vehicle (EV) lineup, along with the introduction of a stylish new Onyx Edition trim. The price cuts, which reach up to $7,000 depending on the trim level, make the Solterra much more accessible to potential EV buyers.

Subaru Cuts Prices for 2025 Solterra

The 2025 Solterra will now start at $38,495, representing a $6,500 reduction from the 2024 model year. This competitive pricing scheme appears to be synchronized with Toyota’s similar move to reduce prices on its related bZ4X model by $6,000, though the Solterra carries slightly higher pricing due to its standard all-wheel-drive system.

The price drops extend across the entire Solterra range, with the Limited trim now starting at $41,995 and the Touring model beginning at $44,995, marking reductions of $6,500 and $7,000 respectively. Adding excitement to the lineup, Subaru has presented a new Touring Onyx Edition, priced at $45,495, which features distinctive black aesthetic elements including gloss black 20-inch wheels, black exterior accents, and coordinated interior trim.

Performance and Range Unchanged

Performance and capability remain unchanged for 2025, with the Solterra continuing to offer Subaru’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and an exceptional 8.3 inches of ground clearance, which shows its class among small electric SUVs. The electric powertrain delivers 249 pound-feet of torque through dual motors mounted on the front and rear axles. The Premium trim achieves an EPA-estimated range of 227 miles, while other trims, including the new Onyx Edition, offer 222 miles of range.

The Solterra retains its extensive feature set, including a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technologies. Higher trim levels add luxuries such as wireless phone charging and a Harman Kardon premium audio system with 11 speakers.

Solterra Competes in Electric SUV Market

These pricing adjustments seem well-timed, as Subaru aspires to bolster its standing in the competitive electric SUV segment. Through October, the Solterra has reached sales of 10,215 units, tracking slightly behind its Toyota cousin’s 14,978 units. The lowered pricing structure positions the Solterra to compete more effectively against popular rivals like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Volkswagen ID.4.

To further enhance the value, Subaru is offering up to 10 days of complimentary vehicle rental through their Just Drive Rental program for new Solterra purchasers or lessees. Additionally, some buyers may qualify for federal tax credits of up to $7,500, potentially making the effective price even more attractive.

The 2025 Subaru Solterra models are anticipated to arrive at dealerships nationwide early next year. Meanwhile, Subaru is offering attractive lease deals on the remaining 2024 models, with payments starting as low as $279 per month for qualified lessees.
