Mercedes-Benz EV Owners Set To Access Tesla Supercharging Network In 2025

Mercedes-Benz has announced that its U.S.-based electric vehicle (EV) drivers will soon have access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network starting in February 2025.

Mercedes-Benz EV owners will be able to charge at more than 20,000 Tesla Supercharger stations across the United States (U.S.) and Canada beginning February 2025 according to Mercedes-Benz. The integration comes as part of Mercedes-Benz’s strategy to provide comprehensive charging solutions for its EV customers.

Dimitris Psillakis, CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, emphasized the significance of this development stating, “As our technologically advanced and highly compelling all-electric vehicle portfolio continues to grow, we recognize that a critical component for a seamless ownership experience for our customers is to ensure convenient access to a broad charging network.”

To enable charging at Tesla Superchargers, current Mercedes-Benz EV owners will need to purchase a NACS to CCS1 adapter, which will be available at authorized dealerships for $185 in Q1 2025. The adapter, manufactured by Lectron, is rated for up to 1,000 volts and 500 amps, ensuring safe and efficient charging capabilities.

Moreover, the integration will be seamless through the Mercedes me Charge service, which will incorporate Tesla Superchargers into its existing network. This expansion will bring the total number of accessible charging points to over 110,000 across the U.S. and Canada. The service will provide real-time information about charger locations, availability, and pricing through both the Mercedes-Benz smartphone app and the vehicle’s MBUX infotainment system.

Some EV models will require a complimentary software update at authorized dealerships to enable the “Plug & Charge” functionality, which allows for automatic charging initiation and payment processing.
Mercedes-Benz will contact eligible customers directly to schedule these updates. Even without the update, owners can still use Superchargers by initiating charging sessions through the smartphone app.

Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz plans to integrate NACS ports directly into its new electric vehicles beginning in 2025, eliminating the need for adapters at Tesla Superchargers. This change reflects the company’s devotion to adopting the Tesla-designed NACS standard.

Canadian Mercedes-Benz EV owners will need to wait slightly longer, with access to the Tesla Supercharger network scheduled for later in 2025. Canadian pricing for the NACS adapter will be announced closer to its Q2 2025 release date.

As part of Mercedes-Benz’s comprehensive approach to expanding charging infrastructure, the company recently launched its own High-Power Charging network in November 2023, featuring 400kW chargers across several U.S. states. Additionally, through the IONNA joint venture with seven other automakers, Mercedes-Benz is participating in the development of 30,000 new high-power charging points across North America.

Franz Reiner, Chairman of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG, summarized the significance of this development stating, “By opening access to Tesla Superchargers in North America to our customers, we underline our commitment to providing our customers with as many charging options as possible.”
