In a bold move that signals its growing ambitions in the European electric vehicle (EV) market, ZEEKR has announced its launch in Norway as it marks a new milestone following its successful entry into Sweden and the Netherlands in December 2023.

Strategic Expansion

Norway, renowned for its advanced EV market where over 80% of new car sales are electric, represents a crucial strategic target for ZEEKR. Lothar Schupet, ZEEKR Europe’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the launch stating, “This is a very important market for us, and our top-notch electric vehicles will be matched to a first-class customer experience, delivered through our new retailer network – a first for ZEEKR in Europe.”

Two Flagship Models

According to ZEEKR, the company will introduce two models to the Norwegian market. Starting with the ZEEKR 001, this EV is a shooting brake-style model offering an exceptional range of up to 620 km (around 385 miles) (WLTP). Priced from 579,900 kr (around $55,853) (including VAT) for the single-motor Long Range model, it contains formidable performance with its dual-motor variant accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

The second EV mode is the ZEEKR X, which is a compact SUV with a range of up to 446 km (around 277 miles) (WLTP). The entry-level single-motor Long Range model is priced from 424,900 kr (around $40,924) (including VAT). Its top-tier Privilege model can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds. Both models feature rapid charging capabilities, with the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes using DC fast charging.

Retail and Service Network

ZEEKR is establishing a curated network of retailers in Norway, beginning with Premium Cars Stor-Oslo this month. The company plans to expand to other major cities in the future, complemented by a network of authorized service centers and workshops.

Customer-Centric Approach

To mark its Norwegian debut, ZEEKR is offering an attractive 0.99% introductory financing rate on new 001 and X models. The company is also providing a standard 5-year/100,000 km vehicle warranty, extendable to 10 years/200,000 km.

For charging convenience, ZEEKR has partnered with Plugsurfing, granting its European customers access to over 800,000 charging points across the continent via the ZEEKR Charge app.

Global Ambitions

This expansion into Norway is part of ZEEKR’s broader strategy to become a top-three premium brand in Europe. The company has already delivered around 340,000 EVs globally, showcasing its rapid growth in the electric mobility sector.

However, ZEEKR faces challenges, including stiff competition from established European brands and recent tariffs on Chinese imports. Despite these hurdles, the company remains optimistic about its prospects in the European market especially with Norway tracking over 750,000 EVs on its roads

With deliveries in Norway set to commence before the end of the year, ZEEKR is set to make a significant impact in one of the world’s most EV-friendly markets. As the company continues its European expansion, all eyes will be on how this ambitious Chinese brand fares against local competitors in the increasingly crowded EV landscape.
