The Striking 007 GT Shooting Brake Is Revealed Alongside Plans For Three New EVs And NVIDIA-Powered Autonomous Tech
Zeekr turned heads at CES 2025 with a series of major announcements, including new teaser images of its striking new 007 GT electric vehicle (EV) and plans for advanced autonomous driving technology.
The 007 GT, officially designated as a “shooting brake,” represents Zeekr’s second wagon-style vehicle following the 001 model. This new variant builds upon the successful 007 sedan, competing effectively against the Tesla Model 3 in the Chinese market with a starting price of around $29,500. The GT version maintains the sedan’s distinctive floating roof design while adding increased practicality through its extended roofline and cargo area.
The timing of this reveal is particularly significant, as it comes alongside Zeekr’s announcement of three planned EV launches for 2025, identified internally by the codenames “EX,” “DX,” and “CC.” While the company has not confirmed which designation applies to the 007 GT, it has indicated that the new wagon will launch in Q2 2025.
Technical specifications for the 007 GT are expected to mirror or exceed those of its sedan counterpart, featuring Zeekr’s advanced 800-volt architecture and the company’s innovative “Golden Battery” technology. This 75 kWh battery system has garnered attention for its outstanding charging capabilities, requiring less than 12 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% capacity.
In addition to the 007 GT reveal, Zeekr announced significant progress in autonomous driving technology through a partnership with NVIDIA. The company will be among the first to implement NVIDIA’s DRIVE Thor next-generation centralized computer in its vehicles, with initial production scheduled for early 2025. This domain controller will debut in a new large SUV model.
The global market strategy for the 007 GT reflects Zeekr’s international ambitions, with plans to market the vehicle as the Zeekr 7 GT outside of China. This move positions the wagon to compete with premium EVs like the BMW i5 Touring in European markets, where wagon-style vehicles maintain strong popularity. The vehicle will also face domestic competition from the Nio ET5 Touring, which has already claimed success in the premium electric wagon segment.
However, Zeekr’s global expansion faces potential challenges, particularly in the United States (U.S.). Despite announcing a U.S. office at CES, the company has not yet committed to launching its vehicles in the American market likely due to current political tensions and potential tariffs that could complicate any plans for U.S. market entry.
The 007 GT’s reveal displays Zeekr’s understanding of diverse market preferences and its ability to develop vehicles that appeal to different regional tastes. While many automakers focus primarily on SUVs and crossovers, Zeekr’s decision to develop a wagon variant shows a willingness to serve specific market niches with sophisticated, purpose-built EVs.
With Zeekr expanding its international ambitions, the success of the 007 GT could prove pivotal in establishing Zeekr’s reputation beyond China and determining the company’s future trajectory in international markets.
